Fubara Tells Why Rivers Gave Teachers Extension Of Service Years

The teachers in Rivers state have been given extension of services years. 

Governor Siminalayi Fubara announced the development on Friday, September 27, 2024.

In consideration of the sacrifices of our teachers, the State Executive Council meeting today approved the service extension again of Rivers State teachers from the initial 60 to 65 years and from 35 to 40 years of service whichever comes first. 

We truly cherish the commitment of our teachers in shaping the future of our State through the education of our children. It was properly considered that teachers who are certified by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria should benefit from this national law as we domesticate it in our State. In the same spirit, we also approved the increase of the monthly pension fund from N1billion to N2billion to take care of pension and gratuities.

The Executive Council meeting further approved the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for the 2025 budget preparation.
