2027: Popular Lagos APC Guber Aspirant Penciled For Reps Seat — Insiders
as internal permutations within the ruling party take clearer shape.
Fresh insider revelations suggest that one of the most widely touted aspirants to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in 2027 is not, contrary to public perception, in pole position for the Lagos governorship race.
Multiple party sources disclose that the high-profile APC figure is currently penciled down for a federal House of Representatives seat as internal permutations within the ruling party take clearer shape.
Sanwo-Olu is constitutionally barred from seeking a third term and will exit office in 2027, triggering early and intense succession talks that have quietly dominated APC power circles since his first term.
While several names have been aggressively floated in public discourse, top-level party insiders insist that only two APC chieftains are firmly in contention for the governorship ticket at this stage. One of them, sources confirm, is the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa.
In a significant twist, insiders say the popular aspirant — long perceived as a frontline contender and a key figure in the Sanwo-Olu administration — has been tactically edged out of the immediate race.
Power brokers, sources say, believe the aspirant still has time on his side but requires strategic repositioning.
“He is being shipped to Abuja as a compensatory move and to give him time to rebrand,” a party insider revealed, describing the move as “strategic”.
