In a move that validated talks of his political sagacity, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has changed projections about the 2023 Presidential election.

With his Monday, January 10, 2022 declaration of “categorical yes” and “I have informed the President of my intentions”, the 69year old has owned the narratives concerning the 2023 Presidential election.

The politician who shaped the fortune of Lagos state since 1999 made his declaration after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari who doubles as the leader of his political party.

The architect of the formation of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has been the talking point across the country since then.

Tinubu and President Buhari

“It’s very strong and bold thinking outside of the box move that Asiwaju made, whatever every other aspirant does will be trying to catch up. He took his ambition to the highest level and announced and also left room for negotiation with other players that he is still consulting” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Dave Umahi, the Governor of Ebonyi state has towed the same path as Tinubu and informed President Buhari about his ambition but the political leader with Lagos state his base retains the first person advantage.

Supporters, followers, fans, and all those who lean towards Tinubu have it town trumpeting his ambition and hitting out at naysayers, especially perceived opponents in and out of his political party- APC.

The checks by SocietyNow.Ng revealed that while other aspirants like Governor Umahi and Orji Kalu gave knee-jack responses to Tinubu’s move with announcements of their presidential ambitions – in different colors, what appeared the most “professional” response came from the Yemi Osinbajo Support groups.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, just like Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has support groups trumpeting his aspiration to become the next President of Nigeria in 2023.

Though, unlike Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, 64year old Osinbajo has not publicly spoken about his ambition. But those close to the Vice President and his support groups insist he is “in the race” at press time.

But the support groups and their sympathizers have done a massive job of posturing Osinbajo as a strong contender utilizing three major strengths – Continuity as a top player in the Buhari administration, controversy-free, and rich resume as an administrator and professional in his field (Law. He is a professor and Senior Advocate of Nigeria)

The response of Osinbajo’s support groups to the move that handed the reins of the 2023 Presidential election talks to Asiwaju Tinubu and his team is to push out more materials that tell the strengths of the Vice President without taking mud shots.

“They appear, as a rule, to make it a point of duty, not to court controversy but engage in a very civil manner which in a way speaks to the personae of the Vice President” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Further checks by SocietyNow.Ng revealed that though the Osinbajo support groups are doing a fantastic job of posturing the vice president, political realists insist Asiwaju Tinubu remains ahead in the race to determine the successor to President Buhari.

“When Asiwaju said his presidential ambition is a lifelong thing, he wasn’t joking. He has built bridges across and outside the country towards achieving this. He has built a formidable political structure that benefitted and produced all other presidential aspirants in the southwest for the 2023 election, including Osinbajo” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Osinabjo and Tinubu

Osinbajo served as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State in the administration of Asiwaju Tinubu (1999-2007) and admitted Tinubu played a major role in his emergence as Vice President (2015 till date).

Inside information has that Tinubu remains the only aspirant for the 2023 presidential election with the political structure to win an election.

“All others are looking towards President Buhari to anoint them which is not a bad thing because Asiwaju Tinubu did not have the structure to win election in1999 and was anointed by other powerful men to become Governor of Lagos state and he built on that foundation to become what he is” SocietyNow.Ng learned.
