Why It Is Wrong To Say Sidi Osho Has Been Sacked As Ogun Commissioner For Education
Charles Oyelesi
Emerging details have it that it is wrong to claim Sidi Osho has been sacked as the Commissioner of Education in Ogun State.
Reports circulating about town claim Governor Dapo Abiodun has sacked Osho and ordered the Permanent Secretary in-charge of the Ministry of Education to take over ”her role”.
The reports are premised on a Circular signed by Secretary to The State Government Tokunbo Talabi and dated April 30, 2020, which mandated the Permanent Secretary to take on certain duties until ”a Commissioner for Education is appointed”.
Putting the Circular into context, an insider disclosed ”Osho was only nominated for the post she was not appointed, So how can a person that was not appointed be sacked from a position she never occupied”.
Societynow.ng learned that Governor Abiodun did not give Osho the appointment in the face of the scandal generated by her past.
Osho was reportedly dismissed from government service by the Olabisi Onabanjo University over allegations of gross misconduct.
The issue was used to scandalize her nomination for the post of Commissioner for Education in Ogun State despite holding a higher position in the education sector after she left the Olabisi Onabanjo University.
The rules about appointment states dismissed officials can not hold public posts.
”It affected her confirmation. She was nominated but didn’t get the appointment that is why it is only the consultant to the ministry and others that speak on issues that pertain to Education since then, the position of Commissioner for Education remains vacant and the circular by Talabi is in order. People are just being mischievous” an insider asserted.
Societynow.ng gathered that the Abiodun administration chose to be silent about not giving Osho the appointment as a last-minute gesture of ”goodwill” to the scandalized nominee.
