Senator Yayi’s Men Unsettled by Fresh Claims
in the race to determine the next Governor of Ogun State
Despite the commanding lead held by the Senator representing Ogun West, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, in the race to determine the next Governor of Ogun State, fresh claims are causing concern among his supporters.
Emerging assertions suggest that top-level decision-makers within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), close to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, are pushing for another aspirant to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The “aspirant” has not been named, but the claims that Adeola, famously known as Yayi, may not emerge as the APC candidate for the 2027 Ogun State gubernatorial election are gaining ground.
Senator Yayi is one of the few individuals with direct access to President Tinubu and is widely acknowledged as one of his favored allies.
Supported by confirmations of unprecedented performance in Ogun West since becoming Senator, Yayi secured his frontrunner position in the gubernatorial race through hard-won battles, continually increasing his support base with each victory.
Among other achievements, he has become a potential gubernatorial candidate in two senatorial districts—despite representing only one.
However, the emerging claim of a “mystery aspirant” enjoying the support of influential figures is unsettling for his supporters as they work to shut down the narrative.
Yet, the assertions persist, popping up repeatedly.
To be fair to the Senator and his team, they have squared up against stronger campaigns than the contention of a nameless alternative candidate.
They emerged victorious -.repeatedly – on a journey highlighted by aiding the incumbent Governor to power (2019) and re- election (2023) in preparation for the 2027 electoral battle.
