2027 Elections: INEC Fixes December 15 For Final Voters’ Register
ahead of the 2027 general election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed December 15, 2026, for the certification and publication of the Final Register of Voters ahead of the 2027 general election.
The commission disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee.
INEC said it was processing claims and objections arising from the display of the Preliminary Register of Voters conducted nationwide from October 9 to 15, in line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026.
The exercise provided registered voters with the opportunity to inspect their particulars and submit claims and objections as prescribed by law.
The commission also announced that the preliminary register had been made available online following concerns from Nigerians and other stakeholders about the need to expand access beyond the physical display at Registration Areas.
According to INEC, the online publication would complement the physical exercise and facilitate wider public access to the register.
The preliminary register can be accessed through the commission’s dedicated portal at https://display.inecnigeria.org.
INEC said the decision was part of its commitment to transparency, accessibility and public confidence in the electoral process.
It urged continued engagement by Nigerians and stakeholders as it processes claims and objections ahead of the final register’s publication.
The commission reiterated its commitment to implementing the Electoral Act, 2026, and delivering credible elections.
