Ojudu Debunks Viral Video, Denies Seeking Role In Tinubu Government
describing it as “misleading” and the handiwork of “propagandists.”
Babafemi Ojudu, a former presidential aide and journalist, has dismissed a viral video circulating online which suggests he is lobbying for a role in the current administration, describing it as “misleading” and the handiwork of “propagandists.”
In a declarative statement, Ojudu said the video compilation was deliberately doctored to create a false impression about his political position, insisting that he has neither sought nor intends to take up any role in the government.
“My attention has been drawn to a misleading video compilation circulated by some propagandists, suggesting that I am seeking a role in the current government. This is entirely false,” he said.
The former lawmaker clarified that the clips being circulated were not recent and had been taken out of context to fit a narrative that does not reflect his views.
“I did not grant any interview in March 2026,” Ojudu stated, drawing a clear line between the present claims and his last known media engagement.
Providing context, he explained that the last time he spoke with the interviewer referenced in the viral content was in 2025, during discussions centred strictly on his book.
“The last interview I granted to Mr. Obilo was last year, in connection with the publication of my book, Adventures of a Guerrilla Journalist. My comments in that interview were strictly related to the book and nothing more,” he further disclosed.
Ojudu’s reaction comes amid growing concerns over the manipulation of digital content in Nigeria’s political space, where old interviews and remarks are increasingly being recycled to push new narratives.
He reiterated that his political stance remains firm and unchanged, distancing himself from any suggestion of alignment with the current administration.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I remain consistent in my convictions and have no intention of participating in the present government,” he asserted, insisting “My political position remains unchanged.”
The rebuttal underscores the broader challenge of misinformation in the digital age, particularly as political actors and public figures grapple with the rapid spread of unverified or altered content online.
