My Priority Is Solving Real Problems For People, Not Chasing Positions – Dayo D’Bush Alebiosu
says his political focus is simple: solving real problems
Lagos State Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Dayo Alebiosu—popularly known as D’Bush—says his political focus is simple: solving real problems for the people, not chasing elective positions.
In Kosofe federal constituency, recent demolitions in Oworonshoki have sparked controversy, but Alebiosu insists the attention should remain on practical solutions, urban development, and community welfare, not political speculation.
“The demolitions in Oworonshoki are part of urban regeneration,” he explained, clarifying that “It’s under Physical Planning and LABSCA, not my ministry. Yet, I cannot ignore the people affected because this is my home. I was born here, my mother still lives here, and the community has always supported me. I feel their pain personally.”
Alebiosu hinted the personal interventions he has made for residents displaced by the demolition.
“I stepped in to help families find temporary accommodation. Through friends and my personal contributions, we’ve raised millions to assist with rent and relocation. Some of it I funded myself; some came from people willing to help. I’ve coordinated with assembly members, including Hon. Okanlawon Sanni and Hon. Femi Saheed, to make sure more families are reached,” the popular name in grassroots politics stated.
.
He was careful to distinguish the demolished site from his planned waterfront housing scheme.
“The Oworo Waterfront scheme is a separate area, designed to house over 4,000 people. It is a planned development under my ministry. The demolitions in Oworonshoki do not affect the housing scheme. Our goal is to turn reclaimed waterfront land into functional urban space, create jobs, and stimulate economic activity—completely separate from the site where demolitions occurred,” the commissioner disclosed.
The housing scheme will include modern residential units, and commercial spaces and related infrastructure.

D’Bush described plans for a 7-billion-naira jetty designed to benefit residents in Oworonshoki, Bariga, and beyond and the envisioning of the Bariga Jetty as Lagos’ first modern fish market.
“These developments will ripple across the constituency, boosting real estate, local business, and economic opportunities,” he pointed out.
The Senior cabinet member has also been active in tackling illegal dredging and environmental degradation along the waterfront.
The commissioner for waterfront infrastructure development likens unregulated sand pumping to illegal oil bunkering, stressing that all dredging now requires Environmental Impact Assessments and Transport Impact Assessments.
“We patrol, make arrests, and sanction offenders. We cannot compromise the safety of the people or the environment for short-term profit,” he added.
Reflecting on his political approach, the friend of many emphasized the importance of results over optics. “My focus is on delivering projects that improve lives, not chasing positions. That is the real measure of success,” he further revealed.
Addressing election-season speculation, he remained unwavering,.disclosing that “People will always speculate. I focus on the task at hand—my mandate, my responsibilities, my projects. I want to be seen as a blessing, Everything else is secondary.”
