Actor and filmmaker Muyiwa Ademola has shared an emotional farewell following the burial of star actress and producer Allwell Ademola, describing his absence from the country as the “saddest part” of the final rites.

Allwell Ademola was buried on Friday, January 9, 2025, after a service of songs held at LTV 8, Lateef Jakande Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja.

The solemn gathering drew film practitioners across generations and creative classes, many of whom travelled from far and wide to honour a colleague whose work and warmth left a lasting imprint on the industry.

In a reflective message posted on social media on Friday, Muyiwa Ademola lamented not being able to witness her final journey home, noting how the loss served as a stark reminder of life’s fragility.

“It’s a final goodbye, Couz. The saddest part is my not being in the country to witness your final journey back home,” he wrote, adding that death “is just another painful reminder that tomorrow is never promised.”

He went on to meditate on time and mortality, observing that “each day we live is deducted from the days we would live on earth, each birthday we celebrate takes us closer to our final birthday,” before offering a prayer: “May we live long, amen.”

The actor also paid tribute in Yoruba, invoking ancestral ties and prayers for peaceful rest. “Sun re o Omo Oba EniObanke Ademola,” he wrote—translated as “Rest well, royal child of the EniObanke Ademola lineage.”

The ace continued, “bami ki baba mi Awofe Ademola, ki Uncle Adetokunbo Ademola,” meaning “Give my regards to my father, Awofe Ademola, and to Uncle Adetokunbo Ademola.”

As the curtains fell on the rites, the industry closed ranks around her family, united by grief, gratitude and the shared resolve to keep her memory alive.
