Increased Tension In Ekiti As Speaker, Adewale Omirin Raises Alarm Over Alleged Plot By Governor Fayose To Attack, Humiliate ‘Returnee’ Lawmakers Using Political Thugs

Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assemble, Adewale Omirin has raised alarm over alleged plot by state Governor Ayo Fayose to attack and humiliate all ‘returnee’ lawmakers using political thugs.

Omirin and 18 other lawmakers on the platform of All Progressives Congress are at intense political logger heads with Governor of the state, Ayo Fayose and seven lawmakers operating under the emblem of People’s Democratic Party.

The Seven pro Fayose lawmakers had initially announced the sacking of the leadership of the house, and taken over the vacant slots in a cloud of secrecy to effect the wishes of Mr Governor.

The 18 APC lawmakers were believed to be in Lagos as guests of Governor Fayose arch political enemy and rival party leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu at the time of the development.

The Ekiti Governor accused Asiwaju Tinubu of attempting stifle his gag administration from Lagos by tele guiding the Ekiti APC lawmakers how to prove stumbling block to the activities of Fayose.

Mr Fayose defeated re election seeking APC Governor, Kayode Fayemi to assume office.

He inherited a State House of Assemble in the firm grip of the opposition.

But follow up events have seen him unclasp the shackles of opposition – though the manner remains a subject of great controversy.

7 members proved superior to 19 in the process that enabled the Governor to secure the backing of the State House of Assemble.

Another interesting turn to the twist was however added when the leadership that enjoys the strength of 19 members sacked by a team of 7 returned to the state recently.

The lawmakers with Adewale Omirin has speaker suspended the pro fayose team of 7 with Dele Olugbemi as speaker.

And announced they would continue parallel state house of assemble functions at the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti.

An action that further creates credibility and legality problem for Governor Fayose and any, approval by his team of 7 lawmakers occupying the Assemble complex.

Fresh information however revealed against this backdrop, Speaker Omirin has raised alarm over an alleged plot byEkiti Governor to run the anti- Fayose lawmaker out of turn.

Information available alleged the plot to be in form of an attack by political thugs to humiliate them about town.

The speaker raises this allegation via a press statement made available by his media officer, Wole Olujobi.

The statement reads in part ‘that intelligence report suggested that government-backed hoodlums have been sent to the streets to look out for lawmakers for attacks.

Part of the game-plan is to smash the Toyota Camry cars officially allocated to the members, which members are paying for from deductions in their salaries. In cases where practicable, the cars are to be forcefully snatched from the lawmakers and then create a robbery scenario’

The statement equally made revelations on other issues

‘He has reduced security vote to security agents thereby making it almost impossible for security agents to perform their duties due to low morale among security agents and inability to maintain their equipment while doubling his personal security vote.
‘If we observe very well, Ekiti people will note that all the check-points manned by the Army have been deserted because the governor has refused to fund their activities. That is why in the last one and half months, criminal activities, including jail break, had taken place in Ekiti State while Ado-Ekiti streets no longer enjoy light? at nights because the governor has refused to release money for fuel’
