…months of networking, strategies down the drain

Abdullahi, the son of Ibadan (Oyo state) money man, Alhaji Arisekola Alao is distressed and panicky- along with his handlers.

Months of family -and personal- influence peddling, political horse trading and economic manoeuvres just went down the drain.

The court has declared that the law must run it’s course in the N1.1bn fuel subsidy fraud case against the first son of the Islamic leader popular with the title ‘Aare Musulumi of Nigeria’.

After months of underground moves and behind the scene antics, Abdullahi had instituted an application to strike out the case on the grounds that the court lacks ‘jurisdiction’ to entertain it.

The accused, charged along with two other oil marketers: Opeyemi Ajuyah and Olarenwaju Olalusi; and their companies – Majope Investment Ltd and Axenergy Limited had urged the court to dismiss the matter against him in a motion dated July 23, 2013.

This week the court denied the application based on what it labelled ‘lack of merit’.

The judge further fixed a new date, Wednesday, October 30 2013 for further trial.

Abdullahi Arisekola – along with others- is accused of amongst other things, forgery, altering and use of false documents and obtaining money by false pretences.
