“I Support Ambode!” Ashafa Distances Self From Talks Of Becoming Next Lagos Gov

Senator Gbenga Ashafa has distanced self from talks of interest of becoming the next governor of Lagos state.

The Lagos East Senatorial district representative says he throws his weight behind re-election seeking governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

Ashafa in a communication released by his media handlers is credited with saying that he wants to make it abundantly clear that “he is currently focused on his assignment as the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District in the National Assembly”.

The statement which downed talks of interest in becoming the next Lagos governor as incumbent Ambode remains at odds with party structure reads in part. “The Distinguished Senator Gbenga B. Ashafa hereby uses this medium to reiterate his support for the government of his Excellency, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and to state that he is firmly focused on his assignment as the Senator representing the people of Lagos East Senatorial District in the upper chamber of the Legislature. Senator Ashafa is equally committed to supporting the brilliant strides of the incumbent Governor of Lagos State and would continue to support him accordingly”.

Before this declaration of support for Ambode by Ashafa, talks supporters of the Lagos East Senator are sounding out stakeholders regarding his gubernatorial ambition have been floating around town.

Ambode is said to be having a running battle with the leadership of his party, All Progressives Congress regarding his re-election bid.
