A movement is on.

And it is to fill the almost vacant Lagos West Senatorial position.

Incumbent Solomon Olamilekan Adeola better known as Yayi has declared ambition to become the next governor of Ogun state.

And he is currently deeply immersed in the struggle to transform from Lagos Senator to Ogun Governor in 2019.

A development that leaves his seat vacant.

The outgoing governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola is rumoured to be interested in setting a political record by returning to Lagos to become Yayi’s successor.

He was a commissioner in Lagos state before he became two-term governor of Osun state.

But Aregbesola faces strong opposition – the politics of Lagos is changed.

The influence he wielded is the terrain has waned, and players who remained faithful to the politics of the state – while he luxuriated in the status of Governor of Osun – see his rumoured return to become a Lagos senator as a big slap.

Many have vowed it will not happen and have started working hard to ensure It doesn’t.

Enter another major player, Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon popularly hail as GOS – an acronym derived from the first alphabets of his names, Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon.

GOS was the Lagos West Senator before Yayi assumed the position.

GOS is a major player in the politics of the Lagos West and like Aregbesola he has extraordinary chummy with the shots caller of Lagos politics, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

But unlike Aregbesola, he stayed true to the politics of the state and is currently listed as providing strong, but underground, support for celebrated governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

According to information available to societynow, the game plan of the emerging movement is simple – based on pedigree, clout, influence and experience …returning a Ganiyu Solomon to the Senate is a far better political play than any other.

“It stops the rumoured dream of the likes of Aregbe and also provides the Senatorial district and Lagos and southwest in general with quality representation at this period vital and strategic engagement at the national level…experience counts” a source stated.

Checks by societynow revealed the man the emerging movement is pushing forward to return to the Senate has refused to confirm or deny his interest, even to very close aides – but the campaign for his political interest continues to grow in Lagos West.
