First Bank M.D, Bisi Onasanya, Diamond Bank Helmsman, Alex Otti In Cold War
Bank Managing Directors, Bisi Onasanya and Alex Otti are enmeshed in a deep seethed cold war.
Information made available to www.societynowng.com revealed that ‘the fight’ between the front persons of First Bank and Diamond Bank respectively has root in their past relationship.
They were both top level staffers of First Bank and enjoyed cordial professional relationship until 2009 when the current Central Bank of Nigeria Governor resigned his position as the Managing Director and moved to the CBN.
First Bank sources claimed that Alex Otti as then was popularly expected to assume the vacant slot- but boardroom politics dictated otherwise.
Onasanya was chosen over the generally assumed choice
Sources claimed that Otti though felt slighted has kept his cool- even when staffers loyal to him pushed for an in house battle that would have sabotaged Onasanya tenure at inception.
Informants further revealed that Onasanya had attempted to allay fray nerves with moves to carry Otti along- the latter reportedly remained indifferent to the overtures.
Otti’s attitude was said to have led to an impasse that created what was tagged ‘ a necessary evil relationship’ between the two.
They reportedly tolerated each other in official capacity and boycotted one another at social engagements as much as possible.
This was the scenario between the two, until immediate Diamond Bank M.D Emeka Onwuka retired and Otti finally got the chance to fulfill his ambition of being a bank M.D.
He was appointed to the post and resumed office in March 2011.
Information at the disposal of www.societynowng.com revealed now on the same level- the cold war between the two is said to have escalated.
‘Otti is like someone cheated and doesn’t want to have anything to do with beneficiary of that action, particularly someone he believes complicit in the whole process” divulged a source
Disclosed another source ‘Onasanya on his part believes he got to where he is fair and square and believes he has passed the point of saturation in his peace overtures- even before Otti left First Bank’
These two parallel views are said to be the main reasons observers fear the cold war between the banks Managing Directors would just continue to fester by the day.
