Controversy Over Dino Melaye Release From Detention

Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye is out of detention.

The Federal lawmaker was arrested on his way out of the country yesterday morning.

Though he claimed arrest by the Nigerian Police Force, the NPF denied involvement in the development.

Immigration officials later revealed the Senator was detained based on requests from the International Police (Interpol).

The police had declared Dino wanted when he refused to honor invitation for providing false information and alleged arms smuggling and plot to kill him.

The Senator regained his freedom in a controversial manner with some claiming he sneaked out of detention.

He told a story of how he snatched back his international passport from law enforcers in a manner that made the drama more colourful.

Police reportedly lay siege at his Abuja home to get him back.

He later released information he would willingly honor the outstanding police invitation later today – 4.00p.m- in bid to put the unpalatable drama to bed – or add another lurid chapter.
