Ambassador For Christ! — Award Beams Light On Mourning Frank ‘Papas’ Okamigbo
has cast a warm light on a season of personal grief
Even as he mourns the passing of his beloved mother, Lady Adaeze Asa Black Nnem, renowned nightlife impresario Franklin Emenike Okamigbo, popularly known as Frank Papas, has been honoured by the Diocese of Ideato (Anglican Communion), St. Andrew’s Church, Ndiokereke, with the Ambassador for Christ Award—a recognition that has cast a warm light on a season of personal grief.
The award, dated December 31, 2025, was presented in recognition of Okamigbo’s selfless support to the church and his outstanding philanthropic gestures, which the diocese said have positively impacted society. Coming at a time when he is navigating the loss of his mother, the honour underscores a quieter, deeply rooted side of the man widely celebrated for redefining Nigeria’s nightlife culture.
Plans are currently underway for the burial of Lady Adaeze Asa Black Nnem, a princess by birth, with a date after the Easter celebrations in April now strongly being considered, according to sources close to the family.

Consultations are said to be at an advanced stage, factoring in tradition, family considerations, and the scale of tributes expected for a woman remembered for her grace, wisdom, and service.
Okamigbo had announced his mother’s passing in an emotional tribute – in November 2025 – that offered a rare glimpse into his private world.
Papas described her as his teacher, confidant, and “true wingwoman,” praising her strength, intelligence, and cheerful spirit.

He thanked her for the sacrifices, guidance, and undying love she gave him and his sisters, signing off with heartfelt gratitude and the promise that burial details would be communicated in due course.
Beyond her role as a devoted mother, Lady Adaeze was widely respected as a woman deeply rooted in faith and culture, known for her poise, meticulous nature, and ability to counsel and resolve issues for people across social and cultural lines. Her royal lineage was matched by a life of quiet leadership and service that left a lasting impression on her community.
The Ambassador for Christ Award reflects values closely associated with those she instilled—faith, generosity, discipline, and service.
Though best known for pioneering the Club Papas concept and later landmark collaborations at K’s Place and The Place, ventures that brought structure, elegance, and respectability to Nigeria’s nightlife, Okamigbo has also built a reputation for consistent, behind-the-scenes support for faith-based and community causes.
As preparations continue for his mother’s burial after Easter, the recognition from St. Andrew’s Church, Ndiokereke, stands as both a testament to Okamigbo’s personal convictions and a poignant reminder that beyond the lights and music, his life remains firmly anchored in faith, gratitude, and values passed down by the matriarch he now prepares to lay to rest.
