BUA Group, a major contributor to the nation’s economy, and ASR Africa Initiative, the largest charitable gesture of its kind by an individual on the continent, are ending the year on a well-deserved note of recognition.

The two vehicles of high-impact development are owned by African giant Abdul Samad Rabiu, acclaimed as the epitome of best business practices.

They recently won the Africa Sustainability/CSR honour at the 2024 edition of the famed SERAS Awards.

Formally known as the Sustainability, Enterprise and Responsibility Awards, SERAS celebrates investments in “society through corporate social responsibility and sustainability initiatives.”

The 2024 edition, held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, singled out BUA Group and ASR Africa for the “Education Intervention of the Year” award.

This recognition highlights the landmark achievements of the organizations, particularly the pivotal use of ASR Africa’s annual N5.5 billion grant to 22 universities under its Tertiary Education Grant Schemes (TEGS).

ASR Africa Chief Executive Officer, Ubon Udoh, received the award on behalf of these two leaders by miles in their spheres of influence.

This latest honour adds to previous recognition for outstanding achievements by both BUA Group and ASR Africa, including awards at the Social Impact and Sustainability Awards (SISA) on November 24, 2024.

SISA recognized BUA Group for community empowerment, development, and poverty alleviation. ASR Africa was named NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) of the Year for its outstanding contributions to social development and other impactful initiatives driving positive change. Additionally, the Managing Director of the charity body, Ubon Udoh, bagged the Chief Executive Officer of the Year award for unwavering commitment.

The founder of the two organizations, Abdul Samad Rabiu, was also decorated with a Lifetime Achievement Award in Philanthropy at the SISA Awards.
