‘We’ll Ensure Every Kobo Delivers Value,’ Says Alebiosu As Lagos Inspects Lekki Waterfront Projects

Lagos State Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Dayo Alebiosu, has reaffirmed the state’s commitment to accountability and quality infrastructure delivery, declaring that every kobo committed to waterfront projects must translate into tangible benefits for residents.

Alebiosu spoke after leading an inspection of ongoing dredging and construction works at Okunde Blue Water, Maiyegun and other strategic waterfront project sites across the Lekki axis, alongside the Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu, and members of the committee.

The inspection, according to the commissioner, was aimed at assessing the pace and quality of work, reviewing project timelines, identifying implementation challenges and ensuring contractors comply with approved specifications.

“We’ll ensure every kobo delivers value,” Alebiosu said, stressing that the Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development would continue to monitor projects closely to guarantee quality execution.

According to him, “The exercise provided an opportunity to assess firsthand the work progress, engage with contractors, engineers and project officials, as well as review implementation timelines, challenges and outstanding milestones.”

He added: “At the Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development, we remain committed to regular project monitoring, strict adherence to approved specifications and ensuring value for money in every waterfront infrastructure project across Lagos State.”

The commissioner said the Sanwo-Olu administration remained focused on delivering durable infrastructure capable of improving livelihoods in waterfront communities while supporting sustainable urban development.

“Our commitment is to deliver quality, sustainable infrastructure that improves the lives of waterfront communities and advances the T.H.E.M.E.S+ Development Agenda of the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu,” the grassroots politician famously called D’Bush stressed.

Alebiosu also assured Lagos residents that inspections would remain a regular feature of project implementation across the state.

“We will continue to inspect, monitor and ensure that projects are delivered to the required standards and within agreed timelines, all for the benefit of Lagosians,” he said.

The joint inspection underscores the collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government in strengthening oversight of public infrastructure projects and ensuring transparency in project delivery.

Since assuming office as Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Alebiosu has placed emphasis on improving oversight of waterfront projects, accelerating intervention works in vulnerable coastal communities and strengthening monitoring mechanisms to ensure contractors deliver according to approved standards. His ministry has also intensified efforts to promote orderly waterfront development, support erosion control initiatives and drive infrastructure projects designed to enhance connectivity, resilience and economic activities along Lagos’ extensive coastline.

The latest inspection forms part of the state’s broader strategy to ensure that ongoing investments in waterfront infrastructure are completed on schedule, meet quality specifications and deliver lasting value to residents and businesses across the state.
