A member of the House of Representatives, Oluwole Oke, has defended Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo ahead of his planned visit to Oko Ido village in Esa-Oke, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.

Oke, who said he had maintained a personal relationship with the activist for over 25 years, described Igboho as “a man of principle” who is fair and balanced in his judgment of issues.

The lawmaker spoke amid rising political tension in his constituency, where his reported re-election ambition is facing growing resistance from a movement being championed by lawyer and political figure Pelumi Olajengbesi.

In a social media narrative on Saturday, Oke said Igboho’s visit to Oko Ido, which houses Unit 17 of Ward 7 in Esa-Oke, should not be misinterpreted.

“Oloye Sunday Adeyemo (a.k.a Igboho) is my personal friend for over 25 years. I know him to be a man of principle,” he said, adding “He is always fair and balanced in his evaluation of events and judgment.”

The federal lawmaker explained that the visit would give the activist an opportunity to carry out what he described as an “on the spot assessment” of the situation in the area before wider consultations and possible lawful steps.

“His visitation to Oko Ido, a village housing Unit 17 of Electoral Ward 7 Esa-Oke in Obokun Local Government, will avail him opportunity to have on-the-spot assessment and thereafter make consultations for further lawful actions,” Oke added.

The development has stirred fresh conversations within Osun political circles, especially as tensions continue to build ahead of future electoral contests in the state.

Oke ended his statement with prayers for peace, saying: “God bless you all.”
