Youth Minister Thanks Army For Sacrifices In Making “Most Nigerians Sleep With Eyes Close”

The Minister of State for Youth Development, Hon Ayodele Olawanle has expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Military for the sacrifices and commitment towards ensuring the national security and territorial integrity of Nigeria.

Hon Olawanle gave the commendation while on a visit to Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri, Borno State on 18 January 2024.

He noted that the military which is mainly composed of young men and women should be commended for being exemplary in demonstrating unity in diversity through its coordination and activities.

He said, “For the military, most Nigerians sleep with their eyes closed, living the life they want, while they (Military) are out there dying for the peace of the country.

He urged Nigerians to always appreciate the sacrifices and efforts of the military at all times to boost their combat capability and efficiency.

In his remarks, the Theatre Commander Maj Gen Gold Chibuisi said he was touched by the encouraging remarks of the Hon Minister whose visit was motivating, stressing that irrespective of the security challenges being faced, the troops would continue to sustain efforts so that Nigerians can enjoy peace and go about their businesses in a secured environment.

Gen Chibuisi emphasized that though substantial progress had been made in tackling the myriad of security challenges in Borno State, the military would continue to put more pressure on the terrorists, especially through its ongoing operations to decimate the remnants of the terrorists. He thanked the Hon Minister for the visit, adding that the military would continue to engage critical stakeholders to get rid of criminals in the North East and other parts of the country.

He appreciated the federal government for its strategic guidance and the support of the public to the military operations across the country and pledged that the military would continue to discharge its assigned duties proficiently and effectively.

As part of the activities, the Hon Minister visited the 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital, where he commiserated with the wounded-in-action troops receiving treatment and assured them of the Federal Government’s support.

Among the dignitaries present during the visit were; the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Borno State Comrade S Buba, Chief of Staff Headquarters Theatre Command Brig Gen A Idris, Theatre Logistics Component Commander Brig Gen EJ Ikomi, Commander 7 Division Garrison, Brig Gen TM Opurum, Principal Staff Officers from Headquarters Theatre Command, Chief of Staff to the Hon Minister and officials from the Borno State Ministry of Youth and Sports.
