The revelation that Ganiyu Solomon, the new man Friday of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is making quiet visits to Governor Ibikunle Amosun has thrown up more disclosures

Here is a link to the background – Realignment Or Betrayal? Tinubu’s New Man Friday, Ganiyu Solomon In Quiet Visits To Gov Amosun

Immediately the news broke, those conversant with the ways of Solomon insist he is not a known betrayer.

Though they refuse to give a concrete confirmation, the sources claim the visit may not be unconnected with fresh pressure from the presidency urging that all party stakeholders across board should resolve differences and work together to ensure the All Progressives Congress retains control of the presidency with the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The election comes up in 2019 and the APC and President Buhari appear to have lost the groundswell appeal that brought them to power.

There are widespread anger and criticism against the President and his party over claims of failure to deliver on electoral promises.

The nation is currently celebrating Christmas battling scarcity of fuel – one of the key challenges the president claimed he would take charge of within six months of his administration.

Governor Amosun and Asiwaju, the two major point men of the President have been engulfed in a war of influence since the beginning of the administration.

Amosun appeared to have the upper hand in terms of relating with the President, but re-election seeking Buhari in a desperate search for votes – and a united front to ensure a return to office – wants the conflict between the two resolved.

And there are strong indications one of the conditions would be for Amosun to retain full control of his “political space”, Ogun state.

And this puts the gubernatorial ambition of Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, the Lagos Senator with the backing of Asiwaju Tinubu to become the next governor of Ogun state on shaky ground societynow learned.

Amosun is passionately against the emergence of Adeola popularly known as Yayi as his successor for obvious reasons.

“And for Amosun to retain his political space to ensure he delivers Ogun state for the President, eradicating interference of external influences is paramount and that includes determining his own successor” a source pointed out.

Insiders believe this seriously put Yayi’s gubernatorial ambition in serious jeopardy as political negotiation to protect the president’s interest might sacrifice his aspiration for the “higher good”.

Sources in the camp of Amosun and Tinubu are however keeping mum on this latest twist, with Yayi followers insisting he is in the race and ready to give all to “win”.
