Yahaya Bello, Nasir Elrufai’s Cold War About To Erupt
Charles Oyelesi
Those who should know insist that it is just a matter of time before it erupts – and it is very near.
This is talking about the intense cold war between Governors of Kaduna state, Malam Nasir Elrufai and that of Kogi State Yahaya Bello.
The two golden sons of President Muhammadu Buhari are at war over who gets to wield the higher influence in the presidency.
Insiders disclosed that the battle for influence has been kept within the caucus of the President’s key men until very recently.
Bello and his followers believed Elrufai crossed the line when he came to campaign for the Kogi Governor’s re-election.
Elrufai knelt down and begged the people of Kogi state to forgive Bello for not paying salaries.
“That move is interpreted as a knife in the back. Elrufai played up the major sin that was troubling Bello’s campaign and validated the talks of nonperformance against Bello. That was how the governor and his people viewed but decides to focus on winning the election before plotting a payback” societynow.ng learned.
Bello won the violence riddled gubernatorial election and sources say the stage is set for an all-out engagement.
” Now they are back on equal footing and Bello, urged on by his advisers is seeking ways to give it back to Elrufai, in the open and in equal measure…a roforofo fight is obviously in the offing”a source stated.
