Outside of all side talks about attendance and boycott, music awards held overnight Headies witnessed moments of enjoyments.

And some are captured in short takes by societynow from the event held at Eko Convention Centre Victoria Island, Lagos on Thursday December 22 2016

1, Kenny St Brown Totally Ignored Ex Husband Eddy’s Performance

One of the early performances at the music awards was that of defunct group, Remedies.
The group made of Tony Tetuila, Idris Abdulkareem and Edy Montana tried to re-enact the magic of past performances with their stage craft.

Eddy was particularly hyper active…jumping all over the stage and, even announced a comeback of the Remedies for good.

‘we are back’’ he thundered into the microphone with his unusual energetic display.

His ex wife, Kenny St Brown was in the hall. Seated in one of the very front rows, she engaged herself with exchange of pleasantries with virtual all that came her way and did everything but pay attention to the attempt of the aging stars at capturing past glory, even for the night.

2, Duet Made In Heaven As Adewale Ayuba And Jazzy Man Olofin ‘’Raised The Roof’’

Though they came separately – but they left together.

And they had every reason to- they forged a better bond with their performance for the night.

Like the lyrics of one their songs said ‘’raised the roof!’’, that was exactly what their delivery on stage did.

Jazzy man came on stage belting out the lyrics of ‘’Raise The Roof’’, the album that brought him to prominence – and Ayuba’s unexpected entry to back him up soared the performance.

With their stage craft, the duo electrified the hall as the audience sang along the songs from the official album of Jazzy man which featured Adewale Ayuba.

3, Show man Showkey Stunned By Audience Reactions

Even Daddy Showkey was shocked by the kind of reception the audience accorded him – it was overwhelming.

‘’Showkey bobo’’ at a point pointed the microphone at the audience with an elated look of disbelief as they screamed out the wordings of his famous songs ‘’ Somebody call my name’’, ‘’If You See My Mama’’, ‘’Fire Fire’’ and others.

With an entry that resulted in a scream down of the hall with ‘’Somebody Call My Name….’’ to a thunderous response of ‘’Showkey’’.

The Gala king literarily shut down the hall and proved his brand of music still has it’s own market.

And that he remains a vintage performer, with all the appeal.

4, Audience Choice, Simi Emerged Winner Of Best R &B Single

As the nominees were reeled out and Lara George, presenter of the Bes R &B single ushered the filled with expectation statement and the winner is….the audience roared Simiiiiiiiii!

And she emerged the winner but contrary to expectation and great love shown by the hall – the singer was nowhere on hand to receive the award.

With Simi not at hand to receive her award, the audience chanted rumoured boy friend and co host for the night – Falz to come receive the plague on her behalf.

But he stayed put back stage and refused to satisfy audience yearnings, even calls from award presenter Lara George to come out and fulfil the demand of fans failed to make the bahd guy budge.

Lara was forced to take the award she came to present on behalf of the winner!

6, Price Of Two Suits…The Fee Young John Has To Pay To Get His Producer Of The Year Award From Mai Atafo

Winner of coveted recognition, Producer of the Year, Young John was not around. And he didn’t have representative to help him receive his award.

The winner who won his category with fantastic effort ‘’Mama’’ the popular album by Kiss Daniel now has to pay for two suits to Mai Atafo, co presenter of his award to get his plague.

The bespoke fashion tailor joking made the announcement as he departs the stage.

7, In Attendance Reminisce Left Empty Handed As Absent Ill Bliss Picked Lyricist On The Roll Award

Baba Hafusa- that’s local rapper Reminisce you know?

He was on ground, very much at the event and came early too.

But he left empty handed – this is even as the audience roared his name as the preferred winner of the Lyricist On The Roll category as nominees were reeled out.

Absent singer, Ill Bliss was announced winner.

8, ‘’Unknown’’ NFF Boss, Amaju Pinick Make Way For Others As He Searched For Seat

Well, it was a music event and football administrator, Amaju Pinick obviously felt the ‘’heat’’ of his environment.

Obviously he was unrecognised.

He was forced to make way for others as he searched for a place to seat.

No, he wasn’t stranded in the popular side, not even the vip or vvip area.

He had reservation for the gold sector – but just had to endure the tolerance of giving way for others inside a hall many didn’’t recognise he is the helms man at the Nigeria Football Federation

9, As Usual Eunice Efole Came.

Serial attendee, Eunice Efole did not disappoint.

The party circuit figure was a part of the event.

Known to have witnessed virtually all the past 10 editions of the award.

Eunice was a part of the 11 edition as well.

10, Adaku, Jenifa’s Partner’s ‘’Hungry Event Gaffe’’

Funke Akindele and Adaku ( Omotunde Adewale) her play partner in popular comedy series – Jenifa’s Diary presented an award.

But it wasn’t their presentation that caught the audience attention but Adaku’s misspeak of a joke.

‘’this is a hungry event..there is no food here, you no see say na paper the everybody they hold’’ the humour merchant made an ill fated attempt at joke.

Partner Funke Akindele immediately cut her off and steered the proceedings to business at hand.

11, Wizkid Dims A.Y’s Glory

Starboy Ayodeji Balogun came into the hall at a moment that took the shine off comic personality Ayo Makun.

A.Y as known was called to come present the much anticipated next rated award that comes with a car gift.      

And as he mounted the stage, all eyes on him – Wizkid entered the hall.

The thunderous reception the singer received totally left A.Y forgotten.

The ‘’presenter’’ was forced into a prayer of one’s glory not getting dimmed by others.

12, ‘’My Career Is Finished’’ Falz Declared

Co Anchor of the event, Falz The Bahd guy, the soft work crooner unfortunately announced an end a glittering career that is just kicking off.

Dressed in unsual garb, that of a ‘’sexy lady’’ while partner Adesua Etomi wear a man’s garb in a comedy skirt depicting the world of popular character Bobrisky (Okuneye Olanrewaju).

After the performance which attracted huge applause, Falz obviously trying to add to fun as curtain fell on their performance Falz went on a monologue ‘’see the way am dressed…a rap artiste ? am finished. My Career is finished all because of Headies’’

13, Tuface’s Emotional Performance Further Cements Place In History

Tuface’s performance was exceptionally emotional.

An outing that befits a king,… and further cements his place in history as a legend of his craft.

The nation’s longest reigning pop king was called upon to honour departed souls under the year in review – Konga Boss, Chris Jeyibo, Singer Nomoreloss and producer OJB Jezreel.

And Tu baba as fondly called killed it!

Coming on stage with the lyrics ‘’When you are weak, I’’ll be strong’’ the leader of the pack went on to render a performance that brought tears to the face and further settled the departed in peace.

14, Olamide, Don Jazzy & Crews Absence Conspired Against Event

The absence of rap king Olamide and powerful music company owner Don Jazzy and their crews conspired against the event.

It created a huge void.

‘’their absence is loud’’ a source stated at the event.

Olamide’s who was one of the major winners at award ceremony was more pronounced, for not sending a representative – it looked like a conscious snub.

And it has created whirlwind of side talks – the YBNL, Marvin and related artistes absence – that organisers can do without.

15, And Phyno Got All The Love Reserved For Absent Stars And More

Phyno, the musician going places with his brand of music was a major winner at the event.

Seated away from all other nominees and out of the centre of attraction, he was initially taken for absent when his rave ‘’Fada Fada’’ secured the major recognition of ‘’Song Of The Year’’.

But his appearance attracted great ovation.

He got all the love reserved for the absent stars and more.

Known to be extremely close to Olamide, general consensus of opinion at the event was that – Phyno’s attendance shows he is a man of his own.
