In addition to the astonishing 60 major awards that Zenith Bank won since his appointment as Group Managing Director in June 2019, information at hand revealed that Ebenezer Onyeagwu has won “Bank CEO of The Year”, every year he has been at the helm of affairs of Nigeria’s most profitable bank.

The Bank Chief Executive Officer described as “an exemplary team player, who he gives due credit” started the run in 2019 with the Champion Newspaper award of “Bank CEO of the Year” testifying to how he started.

In 2022, Leadership awarded the alumnus of Auchi Polytechnic- Nigeria and the University of Oxford- England the “CEO Of The Year” while BusinessDay decorated him with “Bank CEO of Yeat” for performances that included the bank securing more than double the number of new retail customers (7 million in 2021) and a tremendous growth in electronic income under his watch.

Zenith Bank recorded year-on-year profit including the 24% growth in gross earnings, from NGN765.6 billion in 2021 to NGN945.5 billion in 2022.

Onyeagwu is preparing to hand over to Deputy Managing Director, Adaora Umeoji as the new Chief Executive Officer in June 2024.
