The United States Mission in Nigeria has congratulated filmmaker Josh Olaoluwa on winning the Best Short Film award at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), describing the achievement as a testament to the impact of international creative collaboration and talent development.

The U.S. Mission noted that Olaoluwa is an alumnus of the Global Media Makers programme, which it described as “a U.S. government-supported film exchange program that demonstrates the global impact of American creative leadership, mentorship, and cultural exchange.”

According to the statement, the initiative has, since 2016, connected talented filmmakers from different countries with leading professionals in the American entertainment industry.

The mission said the programme has helped participants elevate their craft, strengthen local film industries and build enduring professional relationships across international borders.

“Since 2016, the program has connected talented filmmakers from around the world with leading U.S. entertainment industry professionals, elevating their craft, strengthening local film industries, and building lasting professional networks across borders,” the statement said.

The mission expressed pride in Olaoluwa’s accomplishment, saying his recognition at one of Africa’s biggest film award platforms underscores the importance of investing in creative talent and fostering opportunities for artistic growth.

“We’re proud to celebrate this achievement and the continued impact of investing in creative voices worldwide,” the statement added.
