Why There Was Delay In Making Ambush, Killing Of Okowa’s Security Aides Public

The reason behind making public the Friday ambush and killing of the security aides of Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was delayed has been revealed.

Okowa is also the Vice Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the March 25, 2023 election.

His aides were ambushed and killed in Anambra state on Friday, February 10, 2023, at about 1.30 p.m on Ihiala-Orlu road while on their way to Umuahia. They were on official duty.

Revelations by the Delta State Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu have it that the delay in making public the tragedy was as a result of the need to inform the family first.

The victims are identified as late inspectors, Lucky Aleh, Celestine Nwadiokwu and Jude Obuh.

They were attached to the Explosives Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Unit in Delta State Government House.

They were reportedly acting as an advanced team for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential rally in Abia when the tragedy occurred.

The Delta State commissioner for Information claimed that “The team veered off from the convoy and took another route different from where the convoy was taking,”

The South – East of Nigeria, particularly Anambra state has been a hub of mindless attacks with security operatives as main targets by “Unknown Gun”. 

The Delta state Government implored the police to speedily go after the killers of the security details to arrest and bring them to justice.
