Why There Is Raging Outcry Over Gani Adams’ Aare Onakakanfo’s Thanksgiving At Celestial Church Parish, Genesis

Just a week after he was installed as the 15 Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, culture Ambassador Gani Adams did a thanksgiving – and opted for a church as the venue.

The decision to use Genesis global, a parish of Celestial Church of Christ with Israel Ogundipe as the shepherd has sparked off a raging outcry.

And the outcry refuses to die down, even after the event held yesterday- Sunday, January 21, 2017 – during Sunday’s service at church situated in Alakuko area of Lagos state.

It appears certain conducts in the course of the service has further escalated the “outcry” by faithful of the celestial church, their sympathizers and some claiming to be protecting the overall interest of the Christian faith.

The outcry that the church has no business staging a thanksgiving service for a hardcore traditional title has generated heated – and interesting – engagements, particularly online.

As the development rages, societynow check has unearthed the reason for the first wave of protest that sparked off the engagement adopting all manners of colors.

According to information available, the doctrine of Celestial Church of Christ forbids members to take chieftaincy titles and also exempt them from participating directly or indirectly in events that revolve around the dictates of the gods.

“These are clear stipulations and enshrined in the constitution of the church and known to all true members…Genesis parish went directly against these two injunctions by hosting the thanksgiving service for Gani Adam’s Aare Onakakanfo…that is what those protesting are kicking against” a source explained.

The Aare Onakakanfo is a title that requires sacrifices, divinations from the gods and all other traditional practices the Celestial Church frown on before the holder of the title is installed.

Societynow gathered what has further escalated the situation is an image from the event that surfaced online.

The new aare Onakakanfo is spotted wearing his cap and holding his staff inside the church.

“These are clear afront to the doctrines and edict of the celestial church” a source stated simply.

“Why a shepherd of Ogundipe’s standing permits such is bewildering” another source stated.

Shepherd is used for men of God in charge of parishes in Celestial Church of Christ while Pastor is reserved for the overall spiritual leader.

Israel Ogundipe of Genesis Global is supposed to be one of the shining lights and custodians of the edicts and doctrines of the church according to information available.

Further digs by societynow revealed as the outcry continues by those who claim affront on the church with Aare Onakakanfo thanksgiving, there are indications of moves to take the matter beyond just “mere protest”.
