Why There Is Major Push For Muyiwa Oladipo To Become Next Reps Member From Remo
is gaining significant momentum
Following the unfortunate passing of Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga (Ijaya) on January 15, 2025, the political landscape in the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency has shifted dramatically.
As the race to fill the vacant House of Representatives seat begins, one name is gaining significant momentum—Bashorun Muyiwa Oladipo.
Oladipo, a former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly and two-term Commissioner, is widely seen as the most qualified candidate to succeed the late Ijaya.
“His extensive experience in governance, policy implementation, and legislative affairs positions him as the ideal representative to advance Remoland’s interests at the federal level,” sources say.
“There is a consensus that the National Assembly is not a place for political rookies. Legislative processes require a deep understanding of procedures, strategic maneuvering, and political networking. The late Ijaya herself spent four years mastering the workings of the Green Chamber before becoming an influential voice. Given the constituency’s pressing needs, Remoland cannot afford to start afresh with an inexperienced candidate,” a stakeholder asserted.
Adewunmi Ijaya, who was first elected in 2019 and secured re-election in 2023, died as the sitting Deputy Chief Whip of the Federal House of Representatives.

Oladipo’s past leadership roles have reportedly equipped him with firsthand knowledge of lawmaking and governance, making him capable of making an immediate impact. His tenure as Speaker is said to have given him a deep understanding of legislative dynamics, while his time as a Commissioner refined his skills in policy execution.
“Beyond experience, Oladipo’s election would offer strategic benefits. As a former Speaker, he would enter the House of Representatives with a higher ranking, allowing him greater influence in committee appointments and national legislative affairs. His political acumen would ensure that Remoland’s interests are effectively represented and protected in Abuja,” his backers insist.
Supporters argue that he is the best candidate to continue the developmental strides championed by the late Ijaya and that his seamless transition into the role would prevent setbacks in ongoing projects and ensure continuity in governance.
Checks revealed that with various political interests at play, there have been calls for unity in Remoland. Divisive sentiments and internal conflicts could weaken the constituency’s position in national politics. Many believe that rallying behind Oladipo is the best way to sustain progress and secure a stronger voice for Remoland at the federal level.
Further findings revealed that amid all these developments, the push for Muyiwa Oladipo to become the next Remo Reps member continues to gain traction. His experience, strategic advantage, and commitment to public service make him the preferred choice among stakeholders who want a capable and effective representative in the Green Chamber.
