Olumide, the son of respected elder statesman, Aremo Olusegun Osoba is on his third term as a Federal House of representatives member.

The son of the former Governor of Ogun state represents the people of Obafemi/Owode/Odeda/ Abeokuta-North Federal constituency at the National Assembly.

The holder of the first degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos (1999) is, however, labelled not popular among everyday politicians despite the number of years to his name as a top level political politician.

Everyday politicians are support canvassers who have turned the political process into a means of livelihood.

Elder statesman, Aremo Osoba

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that to benefit, usually monetarily from the process, the everyday politicians pitch projects that would benefit the people to public office holders – or related patrons – and seek to handle such or recommend a preferred choice.

“The practice is to come up with the cost and the targeted sponsor hands over the fund. And that is where their problem with Olumide Osoba is, he always rebuffs handing over the fund. His approach has always been tell me what you need and I will get it done” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Added digs revealed that while the approach has not made him popular with the everyday politicians, it has helped the 46-year-old to record a list of talk about projects across his federal constituency.

According to those in the know some of the some of the projects the approach adopted by the MSc holder in Analysis Design and Management of Information Systems from the London School of Economics and Political Science has birthed include Skills acquisition Centre, Nawar Udeed Obantoko Odead, LGA , 10 Market Stalls and Borehole at Owu Village, Block of 6 Classrooms at St John Anglican Primary School, Itesi, Block of 3 Classrooms at UAMC pry school Alamutu annex, 6 Panel solar powered borehole at St Luke’s Anglican Pry School, Block of 3 Classrooms at St Jacob African Pry School Isan Onigbagbo, 10 Market Stalls with Borehole water at Ogidan-Gbeleodun, Owode.

Also included are 500/11 KVA Transformer at Oba -Erin Town, Ovagemi owode, 300/11 kva Tansformer at Ilere Elelede Community Pakuro Ofada, Block of 3 Classrooms at Community Pry School Olomore, Abeokuta, 10 Marker stalls with Borehole at Ikija town, Abeokuta and 500/11 KVA Generator at Abeokuta North Council headquarter, Akomoje.

SocietyNow.Ng, however, learned while these projects and more are considered good compared to that of others, the growing opinion is that the House of Representatives member needs to fashion alternative strategy that would help him to win elections away from the powerful influence of the everyday politicians.

“Because it is his father’s influence that is serving as cover for him against the angst of the everyday politicians. To be able to really do what he is doing to them, he needs to come up with a strategy that will make their antagonism have very minimal chances against him without his father’s cover” SocietyNow.Ng learned.
