Again, Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has weighed in on the #EndSars protesters rocking different parts of Nigeria.

The Ooni has made a plea to the protesters demanding a better nation to retreat and allow for discussions with the government.

The revered monarch hinged his plea “in the interest of peace and tranquility.”

Societynow.ng gathered that security reports based on the emerging violence unleashed in parts of the country directly or indirectly linked to the protests informed Ooni’s plea for the protesters to “retreat and allow for discussions with government”

The Arole Oduduwa has fondly called made the plea while meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Obasanjo visited the Ooni of Ife yesterday, Monday, October 19, 2020.

A statement Ooni’s media team praised the courage of the protesters for their “displayed love and patriotism to the country through their courageous protests”

Ooni Ogunwusi described the #EndSars protests as a “clear message to the government” on the demands of the protesters and commended the organizers’ “ability to get things done in a coordinated manner, urging them to allow the government to fully attend to their demands.”

“If you look at the #EndSars protest, you will see that our youths have what it takes to rule the country. Since day one, they have shown leadership, accountability and huge sense of responsibility which have sent a clear message to the government. I am very impressed by what they have been able to achieve through the protest and the way they give reports on their spendings on daily is a level of transparency that must be commented.”.

“As a youth leader myself, I am proud that we all have communicated our ideas and it is heartwarming that we have been heard.

“Dear youths, it is time to retreat particularly to prevent those with ulterior motives from hijacking the peaceful message of peace. The whole world is aware of our peaceful conduct and we must not let some bad elements tarnish this enviable integrity.

“Once again, I wish to urge our youths to stop the protest for now and give peace a chance. This would disallow the government from using force.” the Ooni of Ife stated.

He, however, has strong words of condemnation for the attack on Governor Gboyega Oyetola by thugs at a protest ground in Osun State.

“It is sad and we cannot but condemn it as it is against the ethos of Omoluabi which we portray in Osun.

“Similarly, I want to commend Mr. Governor for his maturity in handling the sensitive issue despite all provocation. It shows him as a father that he is, may God continue to protect him.” Said the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
