The same week that Prince Hakeem Ajasa made headlines with a pre-litigation letter in the bid to claim the throne of Iruland,Lagos State – former president Olusegun Obasanjo made a vital move.
The former president widely regarded as a big fan of culture and tradition visited the new Oniru of Iruland, Oba Gbolahan Lawal.
Insiders disclosed that Obasanjo was engaged in a closed-door session with Oba Gbolahan Lawal.
Palaces sources described the visit to societynow.ng as a “a show of solidarity”.
The former president’s visit is described as “openly” siding with the Oniru.
Obasanjo is said to have offered the king pieces of advice on how to go about mending fences with his “enemies” and enjoying an illustrious reign.
Socieynow.ng gathered that Obasanjo’s visit is widely seen as a big boost for Oba Lawal in his kingdom.
The traditional ruler also gave an inkling to the counsel – and support – provided by the former President by publicly thanking him for “an insightful conversation laced with the wisdom of many decades of leadership” one one of his social media pages.
Prince Ajasa is challenging the validity of Oba Lawal’s ascension to the throne of Oniru based on claims that he (Ajasa) remains the choice of Kingmakers and that powerful politician Asiwaju Bola Tinubu edged him out to favor Oba Lawal who was not a part of the selection process for business reasons.
Interestingly, Prince Ajasa had made what was labeled a “reconciliation “ visit to the palace of the new Oniru accompanied by popular king Ademola Elegushi and allegedly “pledged allegiance” before the latest twist of issuing the hugely reported pre-litigation letter.
