Emerging details from Ogun state revealed that Governor Ibikunle Amosun might have appointed 16 civil servants into the position of Permanent Secretaries – but obviously not a done deal for the beneficiaries.

Insiders disclosed that the manner the appointments were done is creating a big furor in Ogun state.

Societynow.ng learned that stakeholders accuse Amosun who hands over power on May 29 of favoritism and nepotism in the recently announced promotion.

Information available has it that there is an ongoing agitation that the Governor promoted just a handful of names on the list on merit to cover up for the alleged ‘’unqualified’’ beneficiaries.

Sources claim the allegation is that certain individuals were elevated based on closeness to power and not competence or qualification,

There are allegations of rapid promotions, double promotions, and picking of the junior officers above their seniors in the governor’s selecting of the new permanent secretaries.

Societynw.ng learned that the allegations have become so intense that petitions and complaints are already being channeled to the Governor-Elect Dapo Abiodun and his backers to redress the situation when he assumed office.

Abiodun will be sworn in as the next Governor of Ogun state on May 29.

Insiders disclosed that the growing push for Abiodun to redress Amosun’s appointment of Permanent Secretaries is hinged on claims that if the status quo stands, it would adversely affect the civil service via disenchantment and encourages backbiting and related vice.

Sources confirmed to societynow.ng that the storm of the agitation has become so intense that the targets now fear for tomorrow as defined by when Abiodun becomes governor.

‘’The push of the agitators is for Dapo Abiodun to review all the appointments and treat individual cases on its merits, retain appointed based on merits and reverse the appointments of those unduly favored..and that would naturally be the joy of the angered while it is the dread of their targets’’ a source pointed out.

Sources claim based on the emerging indications from the camp of the incoming governor, those unduly favored to become Permanent Secretary in the Ogun state indeed have every reason to fear tomorrow.
