Why It’s Gbenga Daniel Versus Amosun In Fight To Determine Next Governor Of Ogun State

The coast is now getting clearer in the fight to determine the next Governor of Ogun state.

Outgoing Governor Ibikunle Amosun firmly has the structure of the ruling All Progressives Congress in his hand for as long as many can remember.

He absorbed whatever threat there was to his ‘’control’’ by absorbing the Olusegun Osoba faction of the Ogun APC just before the recently held congress.

Amosun’s standing puts him in firm position to determine who becomes his party’s candidate.

‘’and to a measure the next governor of Ogun state until now’’ a source pointed out.

So what has changed?

Main opposition and political party in disarray, People’s Democratic Party is speedily putting its house in order.

And two-term ex-Governor of Ogun state, Gbenga Daniel has virtually been handed full control of the party.

A major political influence in the state – away from his extradition drama – Senator Kashamu Buruji has apologized to Daniel and is just a step away from officially collapsing his structure into the one recognized by the national secretariat of the party.

Gubernatorial aspirant Ladi Adebutu has already handed over the recognized structure to the former governor in exchange for support to actualize his ambition.

‘’The implication of this development is that Daniel has become what Amosun is to APC and at a time the PDP has become as formidable as the APC in Ogun state’’ a source pointed out.

Societynow.ng gathered it has always been Daniel’s dream to put a grand alliance that would wrest the government of Ogun state from Amosun and his co-travelers.

‘’that is what is playing out’’ another source quipped.

Amosun, who succeeded Daniel as governor of Ogun state is obviously keen to install his own successor and continue to keep his predecessor and his followers out of power and in the opposition.

‘’so it’s obviously a straight fight between the two major political players..naturally there are other political parties and aspirants in the fight to determine the next governor of Ogun state but ask anybody, the talk of the town players are either with Amosun or Daniel..that is the reality as at now’’ a keen follower of event asserted.
