Why I Am Crying & Not Fighting As They Are Beating Me – Edo Dep Gov Shaibu
“The kind of intimidation and harassment that I have received”
“They are beating me and I am crying. I am not fighting, I am crying”, Philip Shaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo state has provided more insight into his face-off with Governor Godwin Obaseki and his loyalists.
Shaibu wants to be the next Governor of Edo state against the wishes of Obaseki.
The development has alienated the two top citizens of Edo state who joined hands to wrestle power from their political godfather, Adams Oshiomhole.
Shaibu has been at the receiving end of the face-off that has seen his office moved away from the center of power and monthly allocations stopped amid other related antics.
“The kind of intimidation and harassment that I have received, only God that is seeing me through” the Deputy Governor stated expressly.
He, however, insists he will not fight back.
And provided the reason for his stance during a virtual show-up on Journalists Hangout, the popular programme on the television station, TVC today- Monday, November 27, 2023.

“I am not fighting because I will need them. They will support me” Shaibu asserted.
He made the declaration on the heels of the reiterated claim that his name would be on the ballot as a gubernatorial candidate for the 2024 Edo state gubernatorial election.
Though he refrained from telling how he intends to achieve it, Shaibu declared with strong confidence that he will best Obaseki’s preferred choice in the race to determine the gubernatorial candidate of his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“I can tell you that party politics is completely different from governance…party politics is different, I have made my moves and I am going round to check and I am confident, I am the candidate to beat.” the Deputy Governor insisted.
Shaibu’s claims are coming less than 24 hours after the venue of the official declaration of his gubernatorial ambition was canceled at the last minute due to alleged orchestration from the Governor’scamp.
