Dayo Alebiosu, Lagos State’s Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, and Babatunde Osinowo, son of the late Senator Bayo “Pepper” Osinowo, are currently creating buzz in Lagos political circles — particularly in their shared base, Kosofe.

And it all stems from their surprisingly warm relationship, given their politically charged history.

Though both belonged to the same party, the late Pepper Osinowo was a fierce opponent of D’Bush. He was widely believed to have scuttled Alebiosu’s return bid to the House of Representatives through a controversial 2014 primary.

Until Pepper’s death on June 15, 2020, both men merely tolerated each other as co-members of the All Progressives Congress.

Now, what is drawing attention is D’Bush’s openness toward Babatunde — the son of the man who once undermined his political ambitions.

“That is classic D’Bush. He deals with people based on who they are, not where they come from,” a source explained, noting that the commissioner has always run an open-door policy.

Checks show that Babatunde — Managing Director of Ostia Property & Homes — had reached out to Alebiosu simply as a constituent, and their rapport grew naturally from there.

“Many people find their bond surprising, given their past. But that’s life,” an observer noted.

Alebiosu’s growing profile has also helped shape the narrative. As Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, he has been involved in strengthening coastal management initiatives, improving shoreline protection efforts, and recently hosted the maiden Lagos Waterfront Summit, a first-of-its-kind platform that brought global experts together to discuss sustainable development of the state’s blue economy.

Grassroots supporters say this renewed visibility has only reinforced D’Bush’s reputation for inclusive politics, while Babatunde Osinowo is quietly working to build on his father’s legacy.

In Kosofe, their new-found political camaraderie is fast becoming one of the most talked-about developments.
