Why Bayelsa Imposed Curfew On Biseni Community
which took immediate effect
The Bayelsa State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Biseni community in Yenagoa Local Government Area following a breakdown of law and order.
The curfew, which took immediate effect, was ordered by Governor Douye Diri on Friday after receiving security briefings on the situation in the community.
According to a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, some individuals had barricaded roads leading into and within the community, while setting bonfires.
The governor subsequently directed security operatives to restore law and order, peace and security in the area.
Diri also urged responsible members of the community to remain law-abiding, assuring residents that the government would continue to take measures to protect lives and property.
The statement was issued on October 9, 2026.
