Why All Eyes Are On Dele Alake In Corridor Of Power
new position as Minister of Solid Minerals Development has taken him away from the hub of power
Plenty of eyes in the corridor of power – and beyond – are on Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development.
This is against the background of emerging powers playing more visible roles in the new Government of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Alake, a long-time ally of President Bola Tinubu, was postured to play more prominent – and visible – roles than he is playing.
Checks by SocietyNow.Ng revealed that he was a major voice ahead and during the campaign for the election that brought Tinubu to power.
“He was the go-to person for everything regarding Tinubu at that time. He took over the role of Aregbesola and whipped into stronger influence but that has become past tense as things stand” according to information here and there.
Rauf Aregbesola, before his estrangement, was the closest person to Tinubu.

The former Governor and Ex-minister was the acknowledged number two man in Tinubu’s political family before an intense political feud pushed him far and away.
Alake, a former commissioner in Lagos state, adopted the status of Aregbesola and wielded similar power right up to the February 25, 2023 election but appeared to have been “shifted.”.
Alake’s new position as Minister of Solid Minerals Development has taken him away from the hub of power in the new Federal Government information available to SocietyNow.Ng indicate.
Femi Gbajabiamila, the former Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, looks like the “new closest-to-Tinubu” based on daily contacts as Chief of Staff to the President.

Insiders, however, insist that this is not the new reality.
“Gbajabimiala shares influences with some other persons like Wale Edun and Toyin Subair” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.
Edun is the Coordinating Minister for the Economy while Subair is the Special Adviser on Special Duties and Domestic Affairs in the Presidency.
Added information revealed that Alake may appear shifted from his position in the power wheels but insiders have not written him off.
“The situation is not novel to Alake, it has happened in the past and he bounced back to a bigger reckoning. The belief is that he would do an encore (repeat) in this situation as well. That is why all eyes are on him, especially the eyes of those who are benefitting from new happenings” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Information revealed that Alake pulled his first famous encore as Commissioner for Information and Strategy during the first term of Tinubu as Governor of Lagos state.
The 66year old survived the plot to prevent a return to the Lagos cabinet in Tinubu’s second term.
His last encore was “inheriting’ the roles of Aregbesola in the Tinubu political family according to chit-chat in political circles.
Tinubu who was sworn in as President on May 29, 2023, was the Governor of Lagos State from May 29, 1999, to 29 May 200.
