Babajide, the son of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu is trending is Ondo state.

This development is attributed to recent claim made against him.

A group, Ondo State Concerned Timber Merchants (OSCTIM) alleged that Babajide is about to become a major beneficiary in its sector courtesy of a clandestine move.

The Group a statement monitored by societynow.ng on Dailypost.ng claimed that there is a scheme to “handover” control of forest reserves in the state to a consultancy firm linked to Babajide.

This allegation comes barely hours after the commissioner for information in Ondo state, Donald Ojogo raised alarm that there was a plot to smear the image of the Governor, his immediate family and the Government.

The Commissioner in a chat reported by Dailypost.ng insists that there is no plan to hand over control of the forest reserves in Ondo State to the Governor’s son.

The allegation is, however, trending in Ondo state despite the Commissioner’s assertion because of a related claim that was disputed in the past.

Agboola Ajayi, the former Deputy Governor of Ondo state who contested the 2020 gubernatorial election against Akeredolu alleged that Babajide benefited N433million out of N4.3billio discovered in a hidden account owned by Ondo State.

Agboola was the candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) for the October 10, 2020 Ondo Gubernatorial election and suffered a “heavy loss”.

The Governor’s  son, however, didn’t take the allegation laying low.

Babajide hit Agboola hard with declaration that “It is evil and most wicked to make such allegation that exist mainly in the minds of Hon. Agboola, the ZLP candidate and his ilk against me.

“I state with emphasis that it is the greatest disrespect and an intentional distortion of facts for the said Gubernatorial candidate of the ZLP to state inter alia that I siphoned Four hundred and thirty-three million naira of Ondo State’s funds under the disguise of consultancy fees. This allegation which I deny, can only come from someone so lowly and frivolous and unexpected of anyone who holds the high office of a Deputy Governor.”
