The anti-corruption agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched a campaign against the selling of votes ahead of the 2023 general election.

“Do not sell your vote” the agency warned in a message that plays huge the huge disparity between what would be offered in exchange for electing a compromised candidate in office for four years.

“Are you considering selling your vote during the 2023 general elections? What will ₦20k or even ₦50k do for you for a four year period? Would you want to exchange a pot of portage (porridge) for a four years of pains and agony?” the agency message to voters stated and warned that ” Even if you choose to, you will have the law enforcement agencies, especially the EFCC to contend with.”

The message posted on the agency’s social media handle ended as emphatically as it started with “Don’t sell your vote.”

The elections to vote in new representatives – or extend the tenure of those eligible for another term in office – across the federal and state levels take place in the first quarter of next year.

Political campaigns by the candidates of different political parties are already underway.
