What His Children Said As Friend Of Many Okikiolu Okechukwu Osuji Is Laid To Rest

Friend of many, Okikiolu Okechukwu Osuji has been laid to rest.

The father of three – David, Daniel, and Daniella – described as always there for family and friends was laid to rest in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Friday, September 30, 2022.

The burial of the graduate of Geography (Hons) from the University of Ibadan was a solemn affair that was enveloped with tinges of gratefulness for an impactful life.

The burial service was held at the Cathedral of St Peter, Ake in Abeokuta before he was laid to rest at the Anglican church cemetery along Interchange- Road, Abeokuta.

The interment came after the Thursday, September 28, 2022 Service of Songs at his residence on Ekemode Street, Gbonagun, Obantoko also in Abeokuta.

The event was filled with testimonies of the goodness radiated by the departed who was awarded the “most sociable male” by the “Friends Forever Club” of the University of Ibadan in 2000.

Some of the highlights of the farewell service decorated with a deluge of testimonials were teary testimonials from the children of the 50year old breathed his last on Friday, September 16, 2022.

“He was a father. That’s what a father does. Eases the burdens of those he loves. Saves the ones he loves from painful last images that might endure for a lifetime.Dad, my mind still talks to you. My heart still looks for you. My soul knows you are at peace.”, his eldest son, Osuji David Oluwalana testified.

“To lose your father is to lose the one whose guidance and help you seek, who supports you like a tree trunk supports its branches. I love you Daddy”, his Daughter, Osuji Daniella Oluwagbemileke said in memory of her father.

Born in Lagos on 27th January 1972 to the family of late Mr Donatus Osuji of Umuororonjo compound, Owerri Municipal, and late Mrs Yemisi Osuji of Sowande and Soosan descendants in Ake/Iporo Ake, Okechukwu Osuji started his education at Christ Church Anglican primary school,Iporo Ake Abeokuta and went on to attend Abeokuta Grammer school, Idi aba Abeokuta

For his post-secondary institution, he attended the University of Ibadan where he graduated with a B.Sc (Hons) in Geography.

He performed his National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) program at Wukari, Taraba State.

His work experiences include engagements at Bellview Airline and SNEPCO ( Shell Nigeria Exploration Company).

Last “captured moment” with family

Friendly and very approachable, Osuji belonged to different voluntary organizations such as JCI ( UI chapter), Yiaga Africa and Friends forever U.I where he was honored with a meritorious service award for his contribution and dedication towards the growth of the club in 2021 and the most sociable male by the class of 2000.
