Fresh information has been added to the emerging story that Primary School Teachers in Yewa North, Ogun State have been ordered to pay fees ranging from N4,000 (Four thousand Naira), N5,000 (Five thousand Naira) and N10,000 (Ten thousand Naira) for the promotion exercise ordered by Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The teachers were reportedly told to pay the fees by ‘those in charge” of the schools in the area based on “vague reasons”.

But some insiders insist that it is a voluntary donation.

“It is not an official thing. It is a voluntary donation that the teachers came up with on their own” a source stated.

Added information claims such “voluntary donations” are solicited by teachers who put themselves into different groups and engage in activities to aid the running of schools where they can but are independent of the management.

“I think they decided to do such a thing (voluntary donations) to make the place a bit more hospitable for the people coming to carry out the promotion. And that is a cultural act that happens in other places across and beyond the state as well. The exercise (promotion) itself is free because the state government has taken care of all official fees” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.
