An emerging video shows council chairmen in Ogun state prostrating and kneeling for Governor Dapo Abiodun yesterday.

The video was recorded at a meeting held to seek forgiveness from the Governor over allegations concerning how his administration is handling local government allocations.

Wale Adedayo, Ijebu East council chairman, – who was not in the video – made the claims on behalf of all the 20 council chairmen in Ogun state as part of efforts to push the Governor to allow full local government autonomy, especially as regards funds.

Adedayo made the move in a letter to Aremo Olusegun Osoba, the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in Ogun state urging him to prevail on Governor Abiodun to allow the local governments to have access to constitutionally stipulated funds.

But other chairmen disowned the move and visited the Governor to apologize for the development after the letter to Osoba became a public issue that forced an immediate reaction from the Abiodun administration.

The video shows the spokesperson for the council chairmen – Babatunde Emilola-Gazal, from Ijebu Ode – appealing for forgiveness and the chairmen prostrating – and kneeling – for forgiveness from the governor.
