Uzodinma Announces Fuel Subsidy Removal Interventions For Imo Workers, Traders

At an expanded meeting with various stakeholders and leadership of trade unions in Imo State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has announced post-subsidy removal interventions in the State for Imo workers and tradesmen.

Top on the list is the immediate increment of the worker’s minimum wage by over 30% thereby raised to N40,000 per month. In addition, the Governor announced the Imo State Government’s supply of a meal per day for Imo workers and free medical services for Imo workers.

The meeting which was at the instance of the Governor, had farmers, traders and other union leaders in attendance. His Excellency further announced the State Government’s earmark of an N2 Billion loan for farmers in the State and the introduction of incentives that would see to the reduction of the cost of transportation across the State.

Other palliative measures announced by the Governor include:beating down food prices with Imo marketing board selling food items at subsidized rates; Establish a mass transit scheme for the public by using the Imo Transport company; Employ graduates into Primary, Secondary and tertiary schools; Government-approved bursaries for students in tertiary institutions with the condition of providing social security numbers for their parents and the students; And set up Scholarship schemes for indigent brilliant students to help them further their education to the tertiary level

These interventions are in addition to already existing support from the State Government to the civil servants for over two years now.

The Governor reassured that, under his administration, Imo prosperity will always be shared for ndi Imo Nile.
