Tony Elumelu Shares Reality Behind Trying To Become A Successful Entrepreneur
The master entrepreneur who is also the chairman of Nigeria’s largest quoted conglomerate, Transcorp Group
The Chairman of the Bank that provides corporate, commercial, SME and consumer banking services to more than 35 million customers globally, UBA (United Bank for Africa) has unveiled the reality behind the efforts it take to be a successful entrepreneur.
“I want to say that discipline, hard work, tenacity, resilience and focus are extremely important for success in business”, Elumelu disclosed as part of his weekly Monday motivation.
The the Founder and Chairman of Heirs Oil & Gas, an upstream oil and gas company, whose assets include Nigerian oil block OML17 with a current production capacity of 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day further asserted that “these principles apply to everyone.”
Elumelu who explained that these principles guided him in his entrepreneurship journey provided better insight with the elucidation “In my career, in my journey, its been a journey of discipline, focus, making short term sacrifices for a better future, working very hard and being extremely resilient, because I say to entrepreneurs that journey is not linear, that journey is tough. it is a difficult journey, but you can’t stop, you can’t be scared, you can’t be put off.”
The master entrepreneur who is also the chairman of Nigeria’s largest quoted conglomerate, Transcorp Group, whose subsidiaries include Transcorp Power, one of the leading producers of electricity in Nigeria and Transcorp Hotels Plc, Nigeria’s foremost hospitality brand, however, affirmed the things may be “challenging and daunting” the application of the principles with inevitably pay off.
“Keep your eyes in the long run, just know that in the long run, most things, so long as you are determined and tenacious, things will come through”, the most prominent champion of entrepreneurship in Africa with The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), the leading philanthropy empowering a new generation of African entrepreneurs asserted.
