Philip Shaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo state has revealed why he wants to succeed his principal, Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The Deputy Governor made the revelation while announcing the submission of his nomination form in the race to become the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2024 gubernatorial election.

“I am not running for governor due to personal ambition but to save Edo State from businessmen seeking to take control” Shaibu declared in a post with the header “EDO 2024: YET ANOTHER CHALLENGE!!!”

The post made on his social media page – Facebook- reads…

I thanked the Deputy National Organising Secretary of our great party, the PDP, Hon. Pascal Adigwe for the warm reception and for recognising my records and giant strides over the years. He also wished me well in my ambition to become the next Governor of Edo State
