“They Believe They Can Win The Election” – Wike Say’s No More Meetings With Atiku

Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has declared that he is no longer interested in meeting with Atiku Abubakar to resolve political differences.

Atiku is the Presidential candidate of the Wike’s political party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the February 25, 2023 election.

Wike leads a group of Governors on the platform of the party tagged G-5 – Wike, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu – who insist that certain agreements must be reached before supporting Atiku to win the 2023 Presidential election.

One of the significant demands of the G-5 was that since the Presidential candidate is from the North and the National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu who is from the same zone must resign for a candidate from the south for a balance in powersharing in the party.

Atiku refused to agree to the demand for the resignation of Ayu and this resulted in a face-off that remains unabated.

And barely 9 days to the crucial election, Wike has ruled out any chance of a truce.

Speaking at a media chat held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State today Wike declared that the time for reconciliation is passed.

“No, we can’t do that; it’s over! We have said it and there is nothing anybody can do about it now,” Wike declared.

“They believe they can win the election. I am not ready to sit down with anybody again.” the Governor also threw in.
