Tarzan Jetty Boss, Ganiyu Balogun Implores State & Federal Govt. To Invest More In Water Tourism And Open The Water Ways
Mr Ganiyu Balogun, the boss of water ways business, Tarzan Boats- has called on the federal and state governments to invest more in water tourism and also open up the inland waters across the coastal states in order to improve on water related tourism and transportation system in the country.
Ganiyu Balogun, CEO, Tarzan Marine, and president of the National Association of Nigerian Tourist Boat Operators and Water Transporters (NATBOWAT), made the call in a statement made available to www.societynowng.com
He charged the government to invest more into the water tourism so that their members can use their job to open up more riverrine communities to boat services and economic development, promote safety and security of lives and property on waterways, promote tourism and commercial activities within riverine settlements and promote water
Ganiyu Balogun, Tarzan Jetty transportation as an alternative to the already congested roads.
According to Balogun, government at all levels needs to assist the association because organisations such as NATBOWAT in other countries are very important to nation building. “In Taiwan, about 310,000 jobs were created through water transportation, while in the United States of America and Canada, water transportation creates jobs for about 45 percent of physically-challenged persons who are useful in diverse ways. That can happen here when the needed support, incentives and appropriate laws are in place.” Balogun said.
Speaking further, the boat man who as been in the business for over 3 decade- advice the government to ensure that expert and technocrats are appointed on the board of the agency managing the sector. “One of the major problem facing our business is that some of people managing these sectors are not experts. And when you try give advice on way to make the sector move forward, they won’t listen to you. Rather they will be using government name to try and frustrate your business and run your business down”
