Talent Hunt In Honour Of Jaiye Aboderin Begins December 16, As Celebs get Set For FAB Night Out 2011
The exciting and entertaining Talent hunt show Put together by the Aboderin family in honor of their late brother Jaiye Aboderin- Jay’s Search will kick off in a matter of days!
Jay Search is a bi-annual music talent search dedicated to the memory of late Jaiye Aboderin (1971-2004), who died
December 3rd 2004 after he slumped during a casual game of basketball with friends.
In a statement released this week, the committee says
“All is now set for this year’s Jay Search. Online auditions ended on Monday November 14, 2011, and we are finally set for the live auditions. We have a total of Twenty (20) finalists for this phase” The grand finale will take place on December 16, 2011, at the grand ball room of the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Lekki and six (6) finalists will slug it out for a cash prize of N250, 000 a Kopykats Entertainment recording deal for one single, one music video, a makeover/photo shoot, airplay, promotions and publicity, during an

exciting evening of music, comedy, dinner and dance. N100, 000 cash goes to the 1st runner-up while the 2nd runner-up gets N75, 000 cash.
The remaining 3 finalists will also get consolation cash prizes of N50, 000 each.
“Winners will be selected by the guests whose votes would make up 40%, while our judges made up of individuals of reputable standing in today’s music industry, would make up 60%” Wunmi Obe saysOn December 3rd 2009, 23 year old undergraduate, OluwaSunbo Olundegun (BigMa) emerged winner of the first edition of Jay Search. Big Ma went home with a cash prize of N150,000, a record deal with T.W.O’s Kopykats Entertainment which includes, an opportunity to release one audio single, a music video, do a photo shoot and be properly packaged in readiness for the industry, all courtesy of Jay Search.
This is not the first time the family have honored the late Jaiye Aboderin by rewarding budding talents. In 2006 and 2007, they partnered Hip Hop World Awards in rewarding musicians Asa and OD. For winning the Jaiye Aboderin Next rated category, the two acts each got a cash prize of 100,000 Naira, alongside the prestigious award.
Jaiye Aboderin died on December 3, 2004, aged 33. He slumped and died after a game of basketball. While alive Jaiye touched the lives of many in the entertainment industry, including musicians, actors and comedians alike. In tribute to him Freestyle, Mode9, Rugged man with Tunde and Wunmi Obe put together a song titled “Tribute to Jay” in 2007. He left behind a wife- Actress Stella Damasus and two daughters, Angelica and Isabel.
Meanwhile FAB Magazine, one of Nigeria’s leading international fashion journal has announced a star-studded list of entertainment, fashion and music icons nominated for the second edition of FAB Night out- An annual fashion/ awards show scheduled to hold at the Landmark events centre Victoria Island, Lagos on December 11, 2011.
The long list of nominees were unveiled at an event held at The Marquee in Lagos on October 22, 2011.
Nollywood acts Kate Henshaw Nuttal, Monalisa Chinda, Rita Dominic, Genevieve Nnaji, Jim Iyke, Ramsey Nouah, Nse Ikpe Etim, Mike Ezuruonye, Majid Michael are joined on the most stylish actor and actress list by Tinsel favorite Gideon Okeke.
The music industry is not left out as Dbanj, Naeto C, Goldie, Muna, Bez, Tiwa Savage, Darey, Asa, Sasha and Lynxx are up for the most stylish artiste contest.
The fashion world is well represented by the likes of Deola Sagoe, Mai Atafo, Uti Nwachukwu, Dimeji Alara and Bolaji Animashaun.
In addition, this year’s list of nominees accommodates On Air Personalities from Radio and TV- Fan favorites Toolz, Tosyn Bucknor, Yvonne Ekwere, Yaw, Wana, Efe Tommy, Eku Edewor, Frank Edoho and Adams Ibrahim.
Well known for showcasing exclusive designs from Africa’s latest fabric collections, FAB Night Out will also have spectacular displays from designers drawn from across Africa, as well as performances from some of the continent’s finest artistes.

In all, 26 awards will be given out to deserving talents at this year’s FAB Night Out including a special recognition category for Deola Sagoe.

FAB Night out debuted in 2010 as a platform to recognize and celebrate talents with the best, offering every calendar year with a total of twenty six award plaques to reward deserving talents.
