The supporters were angry. The tension was high. The atmosphere was charged. And the stage was set for an infamous action that would have marred the burial of a popular man for good.

But the doggedness and courage of governor of Ogun state, Ibikunle Amosun changed what would have been a major tragedy.

Supporters of deceased politician, Isiaka Adeleke believed he was poisoned by the other side and so didn’t want anybody perceived as ‘’opposition’’ at his burial.

Their rage knew no bounds when they spotted Idiat Babalola, commissioner nominee and representative of the governor Rauf Aregbesola at the solemn ceremony.

Their angst is said to have roots in allegations Idiat has been pencilled as the running mate of the man prepared to run against Isiaka Adeleke in the battle for who succeeds Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

And to show their seriousness in getting her out of the burial ceremony, the angry supporters collapsed the canopy under which she was seated along with Governors Ibikunle Amosun, Rotimi Akeredolu, former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Deji Adeleke, the younger brother of the deceased.

On scampering out of the collapsing Canopy, the angry supporters made for Idiat to met out a mob action on her.
