Speculations Over Sen George Akume’s Whereabout

The long absence of Sen. George Akume from political and social gatherings have sparked rumour that the former Minority Leader is terminally ill.
Sen. Akume who represents Benue North in the Senate over a long while has been missing out on senate sittings. His frequent and prolonged absence from the senate since about five months back has sparked rumour that he is battling an undisclosed ailment and several times travelled abroad for medical attention.
It was said that he was recently admitted in a German hospital.
Early February, Sen. Akume was conspicuous by his absence at the interment of the traditional ruler of Tiv nation, Dr Alfred Torkula.
A leading member of the Senate Unity Forum, a faction in the senate that was against the emergence of Sen. Bukola Saraki as the senate president, Sen. Akume was one of the contenders for the exalted office of the senate president.
